I love-a-love my kitty cat
Every day of the week he’s where its at!
But today, the day of roses of red
And all that love stuff
Of kitty cat love ? — I can’t get enough!
Blue heart. Red heart. Purple heart.
My heart is WHITE and soft as snow
And he’s my love for all to know
But trapped in steel will he still glow?
Oh heart! I can not let you go.
I have a love affair with felines. This relationship, which some might call an obsession, has always been a part of me. Even when I was a baby, my little hand grabbed out, reaching for that passing feline. Why is it we love what we love anyway? I think this thing for cats is just part of my DNA!
Most cat lovers wear their cat’s hair inadvertently on their clothing. I prefer to wear mine in the form of jewelry. In honor of my love for him I made this necklace. His beautiful soft white hair is felted in the shape of a heart, then trapped between 2 pieces of wire mesh. A caged heart. We do this with those we love at times, holding tightly, not wanting them to leave.
For those who love their cats as much as I do: a made-to-order necklace, on etsy, the purrfect way to wear the hair from your precious cat. An ode to cat lovers:
Black heart. Grey heart. Orange heart.
Your heart’s COLOR may be as dark as coal
But he’s still your love for all to know
And trapped in steel I’ll have him glow
A lovely heart! And with you he will go.

I LOVE cat paws!
And I love cat paw prints. I have some of those traveling up my leg. You can see those in a previous post: “Like a Cat Scratch on Sunburn”.
Here we have the quintessential essence of cat in the form of a personal adornment. And worn by no other than big boy Gaia.
And now, if Mew’s feeling blue, he has a trick to get him through.
He dreams a dream of tuna, or birdies on a wing, or maybe
Any other of his Favorite Things.
Then, if the dog should growl, Mew the cat, he does not howl!
Or, when his food has vanished, maybe he was not so famished!
No longer feeling mad or sad, Favorite Things have made him glad!
One of the stiff hairs that are located about the nostrils in many mammals.
My kitty cat’s lips are studded with vibrissae
That tickle my face while he gives me a kiss-e.
And if my chance on the floor I spy a lone vibrissa
A jar awaits to collects its fate.
It won’t be missed—just one of twenty-eight!
More of Meow’s Favorite Things . . .
Meow’s hair is silky-soft and thick
And if not combed it tends to stick.
He LOVES the brush
While Missy loves his hair, so lush.
Yes—Petting, brushing, are fine enough
Under the chin, his belly too
But just so much and then he’s through.
Now it’s time to munch, on a tuna treat—or two!
